Privacy Policy

PaperPace is operated by PaperPace LLC, a Colorado limited liability company, which is responsible for the personal data described here.

PaperPace builds a personal morning booklet and emails it to your Kindle. We collect what that job needs and nothing more. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and you can request deletion of your account and its data yourself from Settings (details under Retention and deletion below).

Account: your email address, a hashed password (or a Google sign-in identity if you connect one), timezone, and the Send-to-Kindle address you give us for delivery.

Your Booklet: the chapters you configure, your delivery schedule, articles you save, and reading-queue activity.

Saved articles: the browser extension reads the current page locally when you open its popup to prepare a preview. Clicking Save sends the extracted article text and metadata (such as title, author, source URL, publication, and date) to your account. Saving a link or an Explore article may also trigger a server-side fetch of that page without publisher login credentials. Full article copies are stored privately for the reader who saved them. Metadata from links added directly can enter the shared recommendation pool; browser-extension captures are excluded from that pool.

Personalization: facts you share to make chapters more relevant — goals, interests, preferences. Behavioral inference from your reading activity is off by default and opt-in; anything inferred is labeled with its evidence and can be dismissed. We never infer sensitive categories (health, religion, politics, sexual orientation, and similar) regardless of settings.

Ask conversations: recent messages you send to Ask, kept short-term for conversational continuity, plus an audit log of the changes Ask makes so you can review and undo them.

Calendar (optional): if you connect Google Calendar, we cache events from the calendars you enable, within a ±2-week window, to print your agenda. Disconnecting deletes the cache and revokes our access at Google.

Product events: small usage signals (event names and counts — never your message text or article contents).

Two Google connections exist, each behind its own explicit consent screen. Google sign-in uses identity scopes only (your name, email address, and Google account identifier) to create or access your PaperPace account. Google Calendar is a separate, optional, read-only grant (calendar.calendarlist.readonly and calendar.events.readonly): we read the list of your calendars so you can choose which ones to enable, and event details (titles, times, locations) from only the calendars you enable.

How it's used: to print the Today's Agenda chapter of your booklet — composed by our own servers, no AI involved — and, if you leave the “Let Ask use my schedule” setting on, to answer schedule questions you ask (see AI providers below). Nothing else. Google user data is never used for advertising, never sold or transferred to data brokers, never used to determine creditworthiness or for lending, and never used to train AI models.

Storage: events from enabled calendars are cached within a ±2-week window and refreshed periodically; the credential Google issues us is encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM). No human at PaperPace reads your calendar data except with your explicit permission for a support request, when necessary for security or abuse investigation, or where required by law.

Deletion: disconnecting in Settings → Integrations immediately deletes every cached event and revokes our access at Google. You can also revoke access any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting your account removes everything.

PaperPace's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

No advertising, no sale or sharing of personal data for others' purposes, no individualized pricing, and no use of your data to make decisions about employment, housing, credit, insurance, or anything similarly consequential. Personalization tailors booklet content and settings — nothing else.

Generated chapters (lessons, quizzes, reflections, workouts) are produced by a configured model provider (currently Google Gemini). Requests carry the task, the scoped personalization context you can read on your Personalization page, and page context — never your email address, Kindle address, account IDs, or password material. When you ask Ask a schedule question and calendar access is on, the request also includes event titles and times from your enabled calendars for the day in question. Calls are stateless: we keep the conversation history, not the provider, and providers are not permitted to train models on this data.

Reading recommendations: when Gemini-powered similarity matching is enabled for the service, article titles and short descriptions are sent to Google Gemini to create numerical representations called embeddings. We store these representations to compare articles and recommend relevant reading. This can include the title and initial excerpt of an article you saved with the browser extension. Full captured article bodies are not sent by this recommendation process. It is separate from optional generated chapters and from the setting for inferring Personalization facts; turning off that setting does not turn off similarity matching. Creating an embedding is not training a shared model.

Hosting, database, file-storage, and email providers process the data needed to store and deliver your booklet on our behalf. Delivery sends the edition, including any saved articles it contains, through our email provider to the Kindle address you configure. Amazon processes and stores documents you send to its Send-to-Kindle service under its own terms and privacy policy. Explore images load directly from source servers, which receive the network information needed to serve them, such as your IP address; image requests do not include a referrer URL from our Explore cards.

Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us — we store only your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference.

Removing an article from your Queue stops its pending inclusion; it does not delete stored article content or earlier editions. Deleting a browser capture in Settings removes its stored captured body and removes it from the Queue if it is still queued. Metadata and copies already included in generated previews or editions can remain. Deleting all browser captures also removes their capture metadata, but does not rewrite previously generated editions. The option to delete capture text after inclusion removes the capture body when a regular edition is finalized; it does not delete the edition or wait for confirmation that your Kindle received it.

Data is kept while your account is active, with short internal retention windows for conversation history. Deleting your account (Settings → Delete account) removes your account and its associated database records and initiates deletion of generated files, revocation of Google access, and cancellation of any active subscription. External service failures can delay those operations; contact us if you need help confirming deletion. Deleting data from PaperPace cannot recall documents already delivered to your Kindle or copies you independently downloaded. Contact us to request removal of stored editions containing an article without deleting your whole account.

Some records can outlive the account: support correspondence (the emails you sent us keep their content, so past threads stay answerable — ask us to delete those too and we will) and product usage events with the account reference removed, kept only for aggregate statistics.

Restricted copyright case records and recovery copies may be retained as necessary to handle a dispute, comply with law, or restore material following a valid counter-notice. These copies are not available for reading through the service and are retained only as long as needed for those purposes.
